If you’re planning a trip to Shanghai, China, the Arts District on Moganshan Lu is a must see. Just off Changhua Lu near the Suzhou River, there is a graffiti wall that changes almost daily as artists come from around the world to transform a section to their liking. It extends from Changhua Road down a block or so until it reaches M50, (short for 50 Moganshan Lu/Road.) This is where you'll find a cluster of multi-story buildings that hold a plethora of galleries. You'll also find a few places to grab coffee, tea, or lunch.
The area was transformed from a grouping of former mill and textile factories. Although many of the galleries are refined, there is still a sense of folk art as young people gather to explore its intricacies and strong, artistic cultural presence.
